Color of Light
Philadelphia
2000
This mural stands at the northern gateway to Philadelphia's
Chinatown neighborhood. Designed for the Asian Arts Initiative,
it represents the importance of love in the present, and the strength
that can be gained from elders and tradition. Ancient Chinese pictograms
from the scroll on the right merge through the dynamic dragon to
a forward-facing figure, whose face is outlined by the poem "Color
of Light" by contemporary Chinatown poet {??}. This mural is
90 feet long and 35 feet high with extensions built from wood. Commissioned
by the City of Philadelphia's Mural Arts Program.
